Withycombe Lodge General Survey

Practice Annual Survey - March 2012

Final Action Plan

Based on the results of our recent practice survey and the feedback received from patients who completed the survey questionnaire, we have now finalised an action plan to help improve our service.

Results of the survey showed the areas for improvement were highlighted as:

1.    Awareness of specific GP availability – patients were not sure which days of the week a specific GP was available, clinic times & surgery opening times..

2.    Protecting confidentiality in the reception area – Although patients stated that this was not an issue - Patients were aware they could be overheard if they were talking to the Receptionist. We focussed on how we might be able to reduce this and make changes to improve matters.

The following actions will be taken to improve the situation:

Awareness of specific GP availability & clinic times

  • We advertise specific GP availability, clinic times & surgery opening times more prominently on our website.
  • Specific  GP clinic & surgery opening times are also displayed in our reception area and waiting room
  • Posters advertising the Tuesday evening surgery will remain in place on surgery notice boards, website and in every Practice Newsletter, which is published bi-monthly and available in surgery and on our website via email subscription.

Protecting confidentiality in the reception area

  • The radio does help to increase the level of confidentiality at the Reception Desk so will remain switched on during GP sessions.
  • Signs will be placed on the waiting room door requesting patients to close the door on entering and leaving the room
  • Signs will be placed on the Reception Office door requesting staff  to close the door on entering and leaving the room
  • A notice has been placed at the reception desk and in the waiting room advising patients that a private area is now available if a patient wishes to discuss something with a member of staff in privacy.  Our unused front porch has been prepared to use as a private area behind a closed door separating the patient from all other patients

Thank you once again to all those who took part in our survey, we are continuing to encourage all patients to join our Patient Representative Group and joining forms are available to the Reception Desk.  We will be running another survey shortly and we would encourage and appreciate your views on subjects you feel we should be looking at to make improvements.

Please use the feedback form below to tell if you agree with the subjects suggested on the form and any other areas you feel we should survey.
